2010 News
At a recent Youth committee meeting it was decided to formally split the Youth Section into two groups based on age. This is something that we have done for the past two years on an informal basis to accommodate the large numbers of youth members that we have at Warwick CC. The spilt is as follows Warwick Juniors is the youngest age group and includes players between the ages of 8 and 13 (current school years 4 to 8). Warwick Colts is the older age group and includes players between the ages of 13 to 17 (current school years 9-12). In 2010 Warwick will have representative teams in the U10, U11, U13, and U14 divisions of the Warwickshire Cricket League. Warwick Cricket Clubs Junior Section has expanded again building on the success of the 2008 season. The clubs commitment to bring quality coaching and competitive cricket to 8 to 18 year olds in the Warwick area continues.
2009 sees Warwick CC entering a club record number of teams into the Warwickshire league. The new team is the Under 10 team that offers a great chance for younger members to build match confidence whilst playing cricket in a fun and competitive environment. As in 2008 Warwick will also be running league cricket for the Under 17, 15, 13 and 11 age groups.
We have also increased the number of ECB fully qualified coaches at the club. This is to meet the demand of an ever popular Junior Section that last year saw numbers swell to over 60. This increase in numbers has lead to the outdoor training sessions being split into two age groups; Under 17 and Under 15s on Wednesdays 6-7.45pm with 13s and under in the traditional Friday slot 6-7.45pm.
We are planning a Junior event during the season to replace the traditional collection of awards at the Club Dinner. More details to follow but at the moment this is scheduled for the 31st of August.
